Vietnam hosts fruitful FINA Swimming School for Officials on eve of first medal for the country

Can Tho, Mekong Delta, South Vietnam, welcomed 82 local swimming officials on August 20-21, 2015.

FINA Technical Swimming Committee (TSC) members, Lesley Huckins (NZL) and Jose de Jesus (PUR) conducted the FINA School which was hosted by the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association at the Tra Vinh Sports Centre.

Organisers reported that the participants, represented by officials and coaches, were very enthusiastic and great discussions among them and the instructors took place. Questions regarding stroke rules and specific local scenarios were debated over the two-day course.

Vietnam recently seen promising young athlete Anh Vien participating in FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup 2015. Vien competed in the first two stages of the event, in Moscow and Paris-Chartres in August.

She claimed one silver and two bronzes – Vietnam’s first medals ever at FINA Swimming World Cup events. This came as a very encouraging episode for all swimming officials and professionals across the country.
