Thumbs up for Diving Judge school in Singapore

Development News

A FINA school for diving judged was organised at Singapore's Toa Payoh Swimming Complex from May 5-6, 2012. TDC member Mathz Lindberg (SWE), former diver and father of still-competitive Anna Lindberg, conducted the course, which was attended by 22 beginner-level participants.

The course focused on the fundamentals and duties of officials. Practical aspects such as how to run a diving competition, equipment for judging and judging practice were addressed during poolside sessions.

Post-course, Lindberg said: "Singapore Swimming Association is relatively new in diving, they have done a fantastic work in the short time they have been involved in the sport."

On how diving is developing in the country, he added: "Hosting a FINA Development school for the second time shows their interest in developing diving in the country. The FINA school is one way to get people involved in the sport and develop new clubs."
