PR 87 - FINA/AIPS Young Reporters Programme


Lausanne (SUI), October 14, 2014 - In co-operation with FINA, the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) will organise a “Young Reporters Programme” to be conducted during the third FINA World Aquatics Convention and 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), from November 29 to December 7, 2014 in Doha (QAT).

The selected reporters will benefit from a 10-day programme of workshops, training in print, photography, and online to new media reporting of live events throughout these important FINA events in Doha.

After a rigorous selection process from the AIPS affiliates in the five continents, the shortlist of the Young Reporters who will take part in the initiative is as follows:

- Kausav Baruah (IND)
- Dominick Czakilew (AUS)
- Alan Vacaro (URU)
- Marcel Friederich (GER)
- Ruslan Medelbek (KAZ)
- Pablo Martinez (ESP)
- Emilie Fredriksson (SWE)
- Timothy Olubulu (KEN)
- Li Xueying (CHN)
- Elena Sobol (RUS)

“This is a very interesting and important project, which will allow 10 young journalists from the five continents to discover the FINA world. The media promotion and global exposure of the FINA events are of paramount importance for their success and I am sure that these media representatives will definitively appreciate Aquatics, its Stars and respective performances”, considered FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione.
