PR 13 - Diving Grand Prix 2013: Rising stars to shine at first meet in Madrid


Lausanne (SUI), February 14, 2013 – Madrid (ESP) will welcome the fresh faces and rising stars of the diving world stage for the first stop of the FINA Diving Grand Prix 2013, organised from February 15-17.

The circuit of this 18th edition includes seven meets: Madrid (ESP), Rostock (GER), Gatineau (CAN), Fort Lauderdale (USA), San Juan (PUR), Kazan (RUS) and Bolzano (ITA).

Gatineau and Kazan will host the event for the first time, following other cities in Canada and Russia – two powerhouses in the sport – that have staged the event before. Puerto Rico’s San Juan is the newcomer in the list of hosting cities/countries.

The competition programme includes 3m springboard, 10m platform, 3m springboard synchro and 10m platform synchro for men and women.

In Madrid, a total 71 divers (33 men and 38 women) representing 13 countries – including 2012 Grand Prix medallists Javier Illana from Spain, Cuban Jeinkler Aguirre and China's Shixin Li, Jiao Liu and Yajie Si – will take part in the event.
