PR 11 - Women's World League: Italy and Hungary fire at home in round 4


Lausanne (SUI), February 9, 2013 – The teams of Italy and Hungary increased their lead even more during the fourth round of the European tournament of the 2013 FINA Women’s Water Polo World League, both winning in front of the home crowd.

In Group A, Hungary beat Spain 13-11 in Budapest on February 8. In Group B, the Italians were too strong for the Dutch squad in Avezzano, defeating the 2008 Olympic champions 13-10 on February 9.

Going into the fifth round, Hungary and Italy remain unbeaten with three victories each, leading their group – A and B – with 9 and 8 points, respectively.

The fifth and last rounds of the women’s European tournament will be held on March 13th and March 16th, respectively.

The Asia/Oceania tournament will kick off on May 9th in Auckland (NZL), followed by the Americas tournament on May 24th in the USA (city to be confirmed).

The women’s World League Super Final will be organised in Beijing (CHN) from June 3-8, 2013.

GROUP A: 1. HUN, 9 pts (3 wins); 2. ESP, 3 (1W, 2 losses); 3. GRE, 0 (2L)
GROUP B: 1. ITA, 8 pts (3W); 2. NED, 3 (1W, 2L); 3. RUS, 1 (2L)

Group A: GRE-HUN in Greece (city to be confirmed)
Group B: RUS-ITA in Chelyabinsk (RUS)
